This course is aimed at teaching assistants and any school staff who work with any child that may need moving and handling throughout the school day. The first part of the session will look at the theory side explained above. Then it is a practical course mainly whereby all participants practice. Each person will demonstrate safe use of mobile hoist by hoisting each other. Practising transfers, walking and getting out of chairs/wheelchairs. People learn by actually doing rather than just listening. So my courses are very interactive. There is a worksheet for each member to refer to.
For all staff who attend to feel more confident with their moving and handling skills. To be able to move children in the safest and most dignified way possible. To feel up to date with any new equipment and different techniques.
This is a hands on practical session, so if any staff wish to be in a class that is same gender, please state. Wear flat closed in shoes/trainer types.
